southern sisters in downtown greer

This Week's Founders: Danielle MacLanders and Mary Shuford

All Aboard for this week’s feature highlighting the entrepreneurs and innovators who drive The Platform at Greer. This week, we’re getting on board with two sisters who are celebrating ten years in business this month.

Danielle MacLanders and Mary Shuford own two popular shops on E. Poinsett St. in downtown Greer. They opened Southern Sisters Boutique in 2014, and they’ve been innovating ever since. Mary and Danielle participated in The Platform at Greer Bootcamp in March of 2021 as they explored the idea of opening a second store with a different theme. Bootcamp helped them refine their concept and their target customer.

A few months later, the sisters secured a second space two doors down from Southern Sisters where they launched Sparkling Sisters Champagne Bar and Boutique. The bright, colorful space is a hub of creativity. In addition to providing a great atmosphere for customers to sip while they shop, Danielle and Mary host special events and creative classes in that space. Check out their  Cigar Box Charcuterie class coming up on October 17.

Over their ten years in business, Mary and Danielle have continued to channel their creativity into their work. After consumers voted them Best in the Upstate in 2016, the sisters launched a mobile boutique. The global pandemic was tough on most merchants, but in 2020 Danielle and Mary launched their first Facebook Live sale. Those live events were popular with their dedicated customer base, and the sisters continued them long after the pandemic ended.

No matter what the future holds, you can be sure the Sparkling, Southern Sisters of Greer will keep up with the latest fashion trends and find new ways to innovate and dazzle their customers.

Cheers to 10 years, Mary and Danielle!
