This Week's Founder: Phil Beardslee
All Aboard for this week’s feature highlighting the entrepreneurs and innovators who drive The Platform at Greer.
This week, we’re getting on board with Phil Beardslee of Cultivate Sports. Phil was a part of Bootcamp Cohort 7 in 2022, and he says the program has been helpful and encouraging along his journey.
Phil played soccer at Bob Jones University. After graduation, he moved to California where he later started a for-profit business teaching soccer skills to young people. When Phil moved back to the Greenville area, he turned his for-profit business into a faith-based non-profit helping underserved teens through sports. Friendship, faith, and a commitment to service later led BJU grad Daniel Herr to get on board with Cultivate Sports. Bootcamp grad and former college soccer player, Kevin Pahl of Evergreen Traditions, also serves on the Cultivate Sports board.
Phil and his team are currently raising money to build The Cultivate Center, a place for students to come after school to play soccer and connect with mentors. Learn more about the project, look at renderings of the center’s design, and see how you can help on the organization’s website.
Cultivate Sports is also looking for help with its current programming. Specifically, they’re looking for tutoring volunteers, businesses that can provide meals to kids each week, and sponsors for upcoming sports events. To learn more about those opportunities, head on over to Cultivate Sports’ website and click on the get involved page.
